Iran & Kayhan Kalhor
How to marry Oriental sounds with Western music? The Rembrandt Frerichs trio has been experimenting to get it right for years. They regularly get on stage with guest musicians, who play centuries-old instruments. One of the projects in this series is concert tours with the Iranian Kayhan Kalhor. He is the most influential player of the Persian bowed string instrument, the kamancheh. He is known among other things from his work with Yoyo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble. The Rembrandt Frerichs Trio provides his music with a solid foundation. A deep spiritual sound adventure, leaving plenty of room for improvisations.
Rembrandt: "Every time we play together, we unite our shared love for Middle East music. With this group we can play very spherically; melodies come and go, as in a conversation between old friends "
